Interview mit Dr. Dag Körlin: Abhandlung zu Music Breathing

Abstract

Schon seit vielen Jahren entwickelt Dr. Körlin -anerkannter Praktiker und einer der Hauptbegründer der Guided Imagery and Music (GIM)- das “Music Breathing” (MB) als eine Adaption der GIM. Mit dem Ziel, die Lernerfahrung in MB mit ihm noch zu vertiefen, wurde ein teilstrukturiertes Interview auf Englisch durchgeführt. Der erste Teil von Dr. Körlins Training zum besseren Verständnis des MB startete 2019. Seit dem wurden mehr und mehr GIM-Therapeut:innen dazu ermutigt, MB im klinischen Kontext zu praktizieren. Eine kurze Beschreibung der Phasen des MB, die Grundprinzipien hinter dieser Weiterentwicklung und andere Weiterentwickler der GIM speziell für Klient:innen im psychiatrischen Kontext werden betrachtet. Dem Aufbau und Inhalt der Interviewtranskription folgend, zeigt der Autor die wichtigste Leistung dieser Technik auf und stellt außerdem einen Web-Link zu einem Videoclip bereit. Mithilfe des Videoclips soll MB für Kliniker/Ärzte und die Allgemeinheit beworben werden. Zusammenfassend kann man sagen, dass MB einen nützlichen Zugewinn für Musiktherapeuten darstellt.

Wei Wah Angela Shum, Abundant Wellness Co. Ltd, Hong Kong

Angela Shum has been a registered nurse for more than 10 years, working in health care setting across different countries and cities, including Hong Kong, Canada, and the US. Her nursing clinical experience has been extensive in various settings, including hospital, nursing home, and university.

After she earned her master’s degree in expressive therapy (specializing in music therapy and mental health counseling), she worked as a music/rehabilitation therapist at the Provincial/State hospitals in both Canada and the US. She has experiences working with clients with dementia, gambling addictions, stroke/traumatic brain injury, developmental disabilities, and in forensic psychiatry. Presently, she is residing in Hong Kong doing private practice, with her passion of promoting Focused Music Imagery, Music Breathing, GIM and Focusing Oriented Expressive Arts (FOAT®), and educating health care professionals, particularly psychiatric nursing about using these approaches for wellness.
