Una entrevista con el Dr. Dag Körlin: Discusión sobre la respiración musical

Resumen

Durante muchos años, el Dr. Körlin, un conocido practicante y formador principal de imágenes guiadas y música (GIM) ha estado desarrollando la práctica de la respiración musical (MB) como una adaptación de GIM. Se realizó una entrevista semiestructurada en inglés para profundizar la experiencia de aprendizaje de la formación MB con él. La primera parte del programa de formación integral del Dr. Körlin para MB se inició en 2019, y desde entonces se ha animado a más y más terapeutas de GIM a practicar la MB clínicamente. Se revisa una breve descripción de las etapas en MB, los fundamentos detrás de este desarrollo y otros innovadores en la adaptación de técnicas GIM específicas para la población psiquiátrica. Siguiendo el contenido de la transcripción de la entrevista, el autor identificará los méritos clave de esta técnica y proporcionará un enlace web a un videoclip corto con el fin de promover la MB entre los médicos y el público en general. En conclusión, la MB es un activo útil para los musicoterapeutas.

Wei Wah Angela Shum, Abundant Wellness Co. Ltd, Hong Kong

Angela Shum has been a registered nurse for more than 10 years, working in health care setting across different countries and cities, including Hong Kong, Canada, and the US. Her nursing clinical experience has been extensive in various settings, including hospital, nursing home, and university.

After she earned her master’s degree in expressive therapy (specializing in music therapy and mental health counseling), she worked as a music/rehabilitation therapist at the Provincial/State hospitals in both Canada and the US. She has experiences working with clients with dementia, gambling addictions, stroke/traumatic brain injury, developmental disabilities, and in forensic psychiatry. Presently, she is residing in Hong Kong doing private practice, with her passion of promoting Focused Music Imagery, Music Breathing, GIM and Focusing Oriented Expressive Arts (FOAT®), and educating health care professionals, particularly psychiatric nursing about using these approaches for wellness.
