Biography

Giorgos Tsiris qualified as music therapist from Nordoff Robbins, London, UK. He currently works as a Research Assistant at the Research Department of Nordoff Robbins and as a Music Therapist at St Christopher’s Hospice in London. Giorgos is also a special education needs teacher, qualified from the Department of Special Education, University of Thessaly and has worked with children with special needs in primary schools in Greece.
Giorgos is the Founding Editor-in-Chief of the online peer-reviewed journal Approaches: Music Therapy & Special Music Education, http://approaches.primarymusic.gr (supported by GAPMET). He is the coordinator of the Research Network and a joint coordinator of the Palliative and Bereavement Care Network of the British Association for Music Therapy (BAMT). Additionally, he serves as the Representative of the Greek Association of Certified Professional Music Therapists (ESPEM).
Giorgos is an MPhil/PhD Candidate at Nordoff Robbins, The City University, London. He publishes articles in peer-reviewed journals and presents his work in international conferences. His main research interests focus on the interrelationships between music, health and spirituality, as well as the role of aesthetic experience in music therapy.
