“It's Like Mixing Paint”: Songwriting Gender Diversity and Alternative Gender Cultures with Young People as an ‘After-queer’ Methodology

Abstract

"È come mixare la vernice": diversità gender nel songwriting e culture gender alternative con i giovani come metodologia after-queer*

Questo documento concettualizza il songwriting come approccio "after-queer" per esplorare le nozioni di genere e sessualità con i giovani. L'articolo si basa su brani creati da sette gruppi di giovani in seminari di musica, i quali si sono svolti nelle scuole con partecipanti di età compresa tra 14 e 17 anni. Durante questi seminari, il songwriting è stato utilizzato per esplorare l'immaginazione dei partecipanti su come potrebbe apparire il gender nel loro "mondo perfetto". La borsa di studio "after-queer" viene introdotta e citata in tutto il documento, in quanto si riferisce alla teoria queer e alla ricerca con i giovani, in particolare concentrandosi su discorsi relativi al rischio e alla vulnerabilità che emergono in questi campi. L’articolo evidenzia il valore delle metodologie creative e basate sull'arte nella ricerca queer, attraverso l’espansione, le domande e le risposte su possibilità di alternative e identità. La borsa "After queer" è offerta come utile obiettivo per l'analisi critica, in particolare alla luce delle complesse domande relative alla promozione di "diversità" emerse dai risultati.

* Socialmente eccentrico rispetto alle definizioni di normalità codificate dalla cultura dominante, anche in riferimento all’orientamento sessuale e all’identità di genere.
