Vocies Welcomes Interviews

By Krzysztof Stachyra (Poland)

Last year was connected with the lost of wonderful music therapists, who did much for the development of the field. They passed away but are still alive in their publications, recorded materials, and interview.

As you know, publications can tell you much about professionalism of the people, but not much about them personally – their philosophy of life, interests, passions and experiences which led them to the music therapy field and determined their view on the therapeutic use of music. That is why interviews are so important. It can present a broader image of the persons and help you to find answers for the questions which cannot be found in scientific articles and books. It helps you gain knowledge of the person’s thoughts and feelings.

Each of us can support the development of Voices by interviewing people whose work inspires you and shows you the power of music and music therapy. We will be happy to hear about well-known music therapists and lesser-known but interesting music therapists or music healers. We also welcome historical information about the development or transformation of music therapy in your region.

We are also preparing a new interview series called “Famous People,” about a number of historically important music therapists whom many of us knew and worked, but there is a risk that the next generation will not know. You can help us in the development of the world music therapy community's knowledge about well-known and not so well-known music therapists, music healers, musicians and other colleagues supportive of music therapy by interviewing them. We also welcome historical information about the development or transformation of music therapy in your region.

Please let us know of anyone who you might be interested in interviewing or of other ideas for an interview by contacting one of us from our smiling team of the Interview Co-Editors: Leslie Bunt, UK (Leslie.Bunt@uwe.ac.uk), Seung-A Kim, USA (skim@molloy.edu) or Krzysztof Stachyra, Poland (kris.stachyra@gmail.com).
