The Series of Interviews on World Congresses of Music Therapy
I am pleased to share three interviews about the XI World Congress of music Therapy, which was held in Brisbane, Australia, in 2005. Helen Shoemark, a member of the organizing committee, was the main source of information. She discloses secrets of the XI Word Congress, talking about everything what was not seen by the ordinary participants.
11TH World Congress of Music Therapy from a participant perspective you can discover in the interview with Nicole Rivera, a past president of the Illinois Association for Music Therapy and the Great Lakes Region of the American Music Therapy Association. Nicole talks about her memories connected to the conference, singing in a congress choir and the pre/ post tours that were available through the conference planners.
The third interviewed person was Petra Kern, a past president of World Federation of Music Therapy. For her this congress was special not only because of the scientific point of view, but in Brisbane Petra was elected as the WFMT Secretary /Treasurer following Dr. Jayne Standley.
I would like to encourage all of you who took part in the XI World Congress of Music Therapy to share your memories. I know that this material can be complemented so I will appreciate any new memories and pictures. Let’s rescue it from oblivion. If you are interesting in sharing this with Voices’ readers just contact Krzysztof Stachyra, Poland, kris.stachyra@gmail.com.
