Diane Austin

Diane Austin DA, ACMT, LCAT, is the Director of the Music Psychotherapy Center in New York City where she offers a two-year post-graduate certificate program in Vocal Psychotherapy. Dr. Austin has also established two distance training programs in Vocal Psychotherapy, one in Vancouver, B. C. and one in Seoul, Korea. She has maintained a private practice in music/vocal psychotherapy for over 25 years, is an associate professor in the music therapy department at New York University and has lectured and taught throughout the U.S. and internationally on the use of the voice and music psychotherapy. Her book, “The Theory and Practice of Vocal Psychotherapy: Songs of the Self” was recently published by Jessica Kingsley.

Ruth Bright

Ruth Bright has been a pioneer music therapist since 1960. She is the author of 12 books on such varied topics as music therapy in psychiatry, geriatric rehabilitation, dementia and grief resolution. She is on the state committee of the Australian Music Therapy Association. Ruth served two terms as National President of that association and has also served a three-year term as President of the World Federation of Music Therapy.

Jennifer Dixon

Jennifer M. Dixon, MA, LPC, MT-BC, has practiced Music Therapy in the tri-county area around Detroit, Michigan, USA for the past 35 years. She has her own private practice, currently working in a variety of clients’ homes, adult day care, and rehabilitation facilities. She has recently branched out into a new phase of her life with a view to ‘retirement’ and is using her many years experience as a Music Therapist to enhance a new career in Audiobooks and on line Audio Drama. Lia Rejane Mendes Barcellos, Brazilian Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro – University Center

Lia Rejane Mendes Barcellos, is a clinical Music Therapist working with Children and adolescents during the Hemodialysis Sessions. Graduated in Piano and Music Therapy. Master in Musicology. PhD in Musicology. Coordinator of the Music Therapy Post-graduate Program at Brazilian Conservatory of Music in Rio de Janeiro – University Center; Music Therapy Professor in the undergraduate and post-graduate Music Therapy Programs and Coordinator of the Social Music Therapy Clinic “Ronaldo Millecco” at the same institution. Former president of the Music Therapy Association of the State of Rio de Janeiro; Former Member of the Director Council of World Federation of Music Therapy (Inc.). South American Editor of Voices: A World Forum for Music Therapy. Author of Music Therapy books and articles published in different countries.

Nicole Rivera, Northern Illinois University / North Central College

Nicole (Allgood) Rivera, EdD, MT-BC, worked for 17 years as a clinical music therapist serving individuals with autism and other developmental disabilities. Nicole served as the President of the Illinois Association for Music Therapy and the Great Lakes Region of the American Music Therapy Association. After completing her doctorate in educational psychology in 2010, Nicole began teaching education and psychology courses at Northern Illinois University and North Central College.

Jacqueline Robarts, Nordoff Robbins London Centre

Jackie Robarts, a Senior Music Therapist at Nordoff Robbins London Centre, was for many years Head of Music Therapy at a children's hospital. She has specialised in music psychotherapy for over 3 decades in child/adolescent and adult mental health, and with self-referring adults and musicians, as well developmental work with early years. A former Research Fellow at City University London, Editor of the BJMT, and until this year a Senior Clinical Tutor and Supervisor on the Nordoff Robbins Masters training program, UK, she has developed an integrated interdisciplinary approach to training music therapists in clinical improvisation and clinical thinking. She teaches and supervises in the UK and abroad, and has published on her work.

Deborah Salmon, MA, MTA, is Music Therapist at Palliative Care Service, McGill University Health Centre, Montreal, Canada.

Barbara Wheeler, Montclair State University

Barbara Wheeler, PhD, MT-BC, retired from the University of Louisville in 2011 and is living and working at the Jersey Shore (NJ, USA). She is Professor Emerita from Montclair State University, Past President of the American Music Therapy Association, and Interview Co-Editor of Voices.
