By Barbara Wheeler

I hope that readers of Voices have been following the series of interviews on the World Congresses of Music Therapy. These have been documenting these significant music therapy events, and the series will continue in the next issue with focus on the congress in Washington, DC 1999.

Beginning in 1970 and continuing during the same decades that the World Congresses have been held, Dr. Darko Breitenfeld has organized and hosted a series of conferences that have also brought music therapists together from around the world. In this interview, Dr. Serafina Poch speaks with Dr. Breitenfeld about these congresses. They have focuses on music therapy and also on music medicine.

You will see the interview, lists of participants, copies of programs and proceedings from the congresses, an article by Dr. Breitenfeld on music therapy in Croatia, and pictures from some of the congresses. Please let us know if you can identify people in the pictures whose identities are not yet known.

I hope that you will enjoy learning about these important music therapy events in the former Yugoslavia, now Croatia.
