Introduction to the Series of Interviews about Music Music Therapy in Canada

Louise Cadrin

Music therapy has been a part of the Canadian landscape since the mid-1950s. Key figures have shaped and molded the history of music therapy in Canada. The Canadian Association for Music Therapy is pleased and proud to share our history with the world through the historical interviews that are being profiled by Voices.

I encourage you to take time to read the stories of some of these significant people, including an interview by Jennifer Buchanan with our very own Fran Herman, which opens the series in this issue of Voices. Music therapy in Canada continues to grow and change. Thank you to these special individuals who were the ground breakers and who paved the way for today’s music therapists. We applaud you, admire you and give thanks for your courage and vision!
