Introduction to Series of Interviews on World Congresses of Music Therapy

Barbara Wheeler

In this issue of Voices, we present the first of what is intended to be a series of interviews about international conferences that have been important in the development of music therapy. We are starting with the First World Congress of Music Therapy that was held in Paris in 1974. I have invited Prof. Tony Wigram from Aalborg University to write an introduction to the series. Tony is very aware of the concurrent development of World Congresses and the World Federation of Music Therapy and, as someone who has been a leader in WFMT and has attended most of the World Congresses, is in a unique position to introduce the series. We thank him for his introduction and thank all of those who have shared information on the 1974 World Congress for their contributions.
